Hi, I'm Kristi,
and I am here to help.
I’m Kristi Wolch, founder of Elementary Writing Tutor, and I specialize in helping students—especially those with neurodiverse needs—develop confidence, competence, and communication skills through personalized tutoring. I focus on improving reading and writing abilities, empowering students to become more skilled and self-assured learners. Let me share a little bit about my journey and how it all began.

A Passion for Helping Students Succeed

As a former classroom teacher for over 10 years, I worked tirelessly to support children with emotional and behavioral challenges, helping them achieve their full potential. However, everything changed when I left the classroom, and a few short years later, the pandemic hit. I worked for a tutoring company, teaching writing to small groups of children on Zoom. At first, I was hesitant—writing had never been my main focus—but as I dove deeper into the subject, I realized something incredible: I was loving teaching it!

Discovering My True Calling

I soon discovered I had a true passion for helping children improve their writing and reading skills. I loved the challenge of finding creative ways to teach writing, and the pride on my students’ faces when they mastered a difficult concept was the ultimate reward.

One day, I was approached by a homeschooling mom who was intimidated by the idea of teaching writing to her children. Her kids resisted writing at every turn, and she felt unequipped to help them. I saw this as an opportunity to put my skills to the test. Working with the family individually, I helped the children develop a writing routine until the mom felt empowered to take the reins again. It was a challenging process, but seeing the children grow confident in their writing skills and the mom feeling capable of guiding them was beyond fulfilling.

Why I’m Passionate About Your Child’s Growth

My journey started in childhood. I often felt like an outsider, struggling to fit in at a small school where cliques formed early. I turned to books and writing as a way to escape and express myself. In 5th grade, I was given a special assignment—sentence diagramming. While I excelled at it, that same assignment made me feel even more different from my peers. I truly needed someone to build my confidence, and that’s what I strive to give my students today.

Over time, my love for reading and writing grew, and I found my calling in education. I worked with students on the autism spectrum, those with ADHD, and others with diverse learning needs. Helping these students overcome challenges gave me a deep understanding of how powerful confidence can be in a child’s academic journey.

From Classroom Teacher to Online Tutor

Since 2015, I’ve been tutoring students both in person and online. Whether it’s helping children with ADHD focus on reading or guiding students on the autism spectrum through complex writing tasks, my mission is clear: I help students, especially those with neurodiverse needs, unlock their potential by nurturing their reading and writing skills. My goal is to give them the confidence I once needed, so they can thrive in and out of the classroom.

Ready to Help Your Child Succeed

My passion for teaching reading and writing is contagious, and I’m determined to help as many students as possible express themselves through the written word. Together, we’ll work on boosting your child’s competence, communication abilities, and, most importantly, belief in themselves as capable learners.
